How and When Should you Clean Your Litter Box?
Cats can be picky, and their taste for cleanliness extends to their litter box without a doubt. Your cat can choose to "go" somewhere else if the box is excessively full, disorganized, or odorous. How to make your cat happy:
Daily
Remove clumps and droppings at least once every day with a scoop. Place the rubbish outside and dispose of it in a sealed bag or in your Litter Genie Trash Can for convenience. The litter scoop should be cleaned and kept in a plastic bag or get a scoop with a stand like this one: Scoop'N Hide Litter Scoop
If you hate scooping daily then you can start thinking about and saving up for an automatic self-cleaning litter box such as the Litter Robot, the absolutely best self-cleaning litter box out there.
Weekly to Bi-weekly
1. Empty out all litter in the litter box and throw it out.
2. Clean the litter box with soap and water or baking soda and vinegar.
Cats have extremely keen noses, avoid using chemicals like bleach or ammonia to clean it. Your cats may also be harmed by some cleaning supplies, and your pets might stay away from the box if it smells chemically.
3. Place brand new litter in the box.
Tip & Tricks: Put some baking soda on the bottom the tray to help absorb extra odor and moisture for easy clean up.
Consult your veterinarian to rule out any health issues if you routinely clean your cat's litter box but they still "go outside the box."
