Cat tail language is quite complicated, cats communicate using their entire body, but their tail expresses everything. Below will help you clear up some confusion on what your cat means!

Cat wagging tail: Oh-oh. Your cat is quite frustrated with you. Watch your cats tail carefully the next time you annoy them, if they flick their tail when you’re trying to pet them it is because they do not want to be pet at that moment. Some cats next step will be to scratch you, so ensure you stop or completely trained them out of that type of behavior. Issues with your cats scratching or biting click here!

Cat tail twitching: Twitching, a milder kind of wagging. The cat is merely flicking the tip of its tail which means they are in a playful mood. If you see a cat chasing its tail, you can bet they were the ones who initially made it twitch in the first place!

Puffed up tail: A fluffy, puffed-up tail is not a good sign, despite the fact that it looks super cute. It indicates that your cat is afraid of something. If hissing is present, that the cat is getting ready to attack. This usually appears when your cat is meeting a new animal for the first or tenth time.

Tail tucked away: A cat with its tail between its legs exhibits anxiousness and surrender. Your cat will tuck its tail away when something makes it anxious, such as new surroundings or a new family member.

Curved tail: A cat is eager to explore and play when their tail curls into the shape of a question mark. If you have been holding off, now is the ideal time to show them the new toy you got.

Embracing tail: When a cat curve its tail around them it is absolutely adorable, it looks like they are giving themselves a fluffy embrace like the photo below. It means that they are happy and satisfied. Cats can even provide warm, feline hugs to other cats by embracing them with their tails.
