Tuna Cat Treats

Do you love giving your cats a special treat every once in a while? Well, what better way than to make your own homemade cat treats! It only contains three simple ingredients that is absolutely safe for your cats to consume!

These treats are healthy but still should only be provided to your cat on occasion as a treat in addition to a healthy diet and not as a supplement in their daily meal intake.

They are not suitable for cats with particular dietary needs.

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg, whisked
  • 1 Tin of tuna in spring water (undrained)
  • 210g of either plain or wholemeal flour

Direction

1. Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F).

2. In a medium bowl, add the can of tuna, liquids and all.

3. Beat one egg and then add to previous tuna mixture and blend using a hand blender. Add the flour and mix.

4. Take the dough and form them into four equal balls, three of which are placed in the freezer for later use.

5. Take the one ball that is not going to the freezer and place it on a lightly dusted surface with flour. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm. The biscuit can then be cut out in any shape you choose. For your cat, it's preferable to keep the biscuits on the smaller side (use the size of their kibble as a reference to ensure it is not too large).

6. Cut and remove the biscuits. This part can be a bit tricky if it gets stick to the cutter you use. You might need to use a cocktail stick to pry the dough out of the cutter or spray the cutters with pet-friendly oil to prevent them from sticking too much. We personally use silicone kibble molds for a much easier experience than cutters.

7. Arrange your biscuit shapes on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

8. Take them out of the oven when they are crisp and golden brown. Allow to fully cool before giving them to your pet.

9. In a sealed container, these cat treats will stay fresh for up to a week.
