After completing a recipe, did you have a half-can have pureed pumpkin in the fridge? What should you do with the leftovers? Every time you surprise your cat with a crisp frozen bite from this really easy cat treat recipe, they will be overjoyed. The treats will stay for months in the freezer too!
Yes, cats can have plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt. For cats, pumpkin is an excellent treat. Together with the rich fatty acids, beta carotene, and antioxidants that can improve your catās coat and general health, the high fiber content soothes digestive difficulties (both the too-liquid and too-solid sorts). Lack of time to freeze? Simply thin out the batter with some water (warm or cold), serve it in a bowl, and call it a "pumpkin spiced latte." Just give them a small about since they are so tiny! No more than ¼ to ½ of a cup. This recipe is dog friendly too!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 4 hours
Total Time: 4 hours 5 minutes
Ingredients
Pumpkin puree
Nonfat plain yogurt
*Note that this dish is really accommodating! Simply combine yoghurt and pumpkin in an equal amount, or simply change the proportions to suit what you have on hand.*
Directions
1. In the freezer, clear some space that is flat for your treats to set, as it will be placed overnight.
2. To make it simple to move your silicone molds around from the counter to the freezer, place it on a small cookie sheet before you place anything in them, trust us, weāve made this mistake before!
3. In a small bowl, add equal parts pumpkin puree and non-fat plain yogurt (plainer the better as it is much better for dogs). Mix to combine.
4. Tip: Add a little bit of water if want to stretch your batter, or if you are low on an ingredient. Optional.
5. Pour into molds and place in freezer until solid. We simply just leave it overnight.
6. Un-mold the treats and place in a Tupperware or plastic bag for long-term storage. Give these to your dogs as treats only, it is not a substitute for meals.
Cats can have a small amount of Greek yogurt, but this should not be a substitute for meals. Small amounts per day as a treat is perfectly safe!
