Sardine Loaf

About the Recipe:

Cats will enjoy this not only tasty but also quite healthy for your picky feline companions. The fish gives Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils, while the milk supplies calcium, the eggs supply protein, the carrots provide Vitamin A and the amino acid Taurine, and the parsley provides fresh breath. The sardines' tomato sauce contains Lycopene, a heart-healthy antioxidant.

Ingredients:

- 1 15-ounce can of sardines in tomato sauce, with liquid from can
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups breadcrumbs
- ΒΌ cup butter
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 tablespoons julienne carrots
- 1 tablespoon minced parsley
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Save the liquid from the can after draining and flaking apart the sardine meat.
3. Warm up the milk.
4. Toss in the breadcrumbs and butter with the milk. Allow to sit for a few minutes.
5. Heat the sardine liquid.
6. Combine the egg yolks, carrots, parsley, and sardines in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

In a well-greased baking dish or loaf pan, fold in the egg whites and pour the mixture in. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Allow for 10 minutes of resting time after removing the pan from the oven before putting out onto a tray or plate. Allow it cool completely before slicing and serving.
